What is my web-site address?
Your web-site address or Uniform Resource Locator
(URL) is formatted like this:
http://www.glinx.com/~username/
In this example, username refers to your Glinx username. Your
username is the first part of your e-mail address. For example, if your
e-mail address is teacher@glinx.com , then your username is
teacher and your web-page address
is http://www.glinx.com/~teacher/
How much space do I have?
The amount of web space you have on our server
depends on what package you signed up for. Look up
your package, and remember you can always purchase additional web space should
you need it. Additional web space is available at a cost of $5.00 for a block of 10 MB.
Can I run CGI scripts?
If you aren't sure what a CGI script is, then you
can simply ignore this section.
Yes you can. However, there are some security rules regarding CGI scripts
that you should know:
- They have a .cgi or .pl extension.
- They must be owned by you
- They must not be writable by anyone else but you
- They must be executable
We also have some common variables that you may have to
use for your CGI script to work. Bear in mind that programming and modifying CGI
scripts are your responsibility. Glinx Internet does not offer technical
support for user-owned CGI.
Here's a very important tip when using your own CGI scripts. DO NOT place them
in a directory called "/cgi-bin/". That is a reserved name, and cannot
be used for user-owned scripts. This particularly affects users who have their own
domain name.
Can I run Java applets?
Absolutely. Simply place the java applets in your
web directory and run them from one of your web pages.

What can't I do?
There are a few restrictions that you should be
aware of. Our server does not support server-side includes (SSI), Microsoft
FrontPage extentions, and all content must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy. Other than these
exceptions, you are free to try almost anything.
I want my own domain. Can Glinx do that
for me?
Glinx does offer domain hosting, however,
it is not the same thing as the free personal webspace which comes with your

No one knows my web site exists! What can I
do?
