Who I am
I am a Bent descendant with an insatiable curiousity and "need to know" about my ancestry and relatives. I have been working on my own family history for about ten years, since my uncle Murray Bent gave me my first leads. Since then I have been given three other genealogies, Farnsworth, Young, and Hudson, each of which is connected to the origional Bent Family history. My grandmother was a Farnsworth, my great-grandmother was a Hudson, and the Youngs seem to be mixed in everywhere. I owe a debt of gratitude to local genealogist Jeanetta Dexter, who helped me find the missing links in my family tree and gave me much of the Annapolis County geneology of the Bent family. I also am grateful to Paul Jodrey for his help and for the fact that he is the co-owner of my copy of "The Bent Family in America" by Allen H. Bent printed in Boston in 1900. I have also received a lot of information from other family members who came to me to find their links and helped me to fill in the newer generations. They are too numerous to mention , but are not to be overlooked or forgotten. I have also begun the search for my mother's people. My mother's maiden name is Warren and although she was born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, her people are from Halifax, and Guysborough Counties in Nova Scotia. Her mother was a Whitewood and her great-grandmother was a Glencross. In researching my family histories, I have been given many stories and anecdotes which have made the work both interesting and entertaining. (Even if I hadn't thought it was both of these things anyway). To read these stories click here. |
