CONCEPT MAPPING
A concept map graphically shows the relationships among concepts. It can be used by students to show prior learning or at the end of a unit to show learning.

When students are asked to construct concept maps, the concepts may be fully or partially provided for them. The technical challenges associated with concept maps be be lessened for students by using the software program, Inspirations.

Concept maps are useful in planning units and activities. Start to plan a unit by selecting the big ideas. Then work to develop a concept map that organizes the concepts and activities so that they are meaningful.

The use of the software program, "Inspirations" can make the mechanics of concept mapping easier. However, for personal teacher use one can be less formal and construct boxes as needed.
