STS and the Design Process

 

As students are involved in an STS focus on curriculum - which in addition to issues and problems may center on products, processes and systems- they may be encouraged to follow a design process. An example of a design process is featured below.

 

 

Science by Design

 

Identify & clarify the situation

Create the solution

Investigate the possibilities

Choose the solution

Implement the design

Evaluate the design

Communicate the solution

 

 

A design process is a cycle of actions until a satisfactory solution is reached.
