VACCINATION

Many contagious canine and feline diseases can be prevented with proper vaccination and regular check-ups. Help prevent your pet from contracting and spreading these often deadly diseases by ensuring that s/he is regularly vaccinated.

It is essential that your new pet receives her/his first needles AND the follow-up booster shots. Successfully building immunity to any disease requires that your pet completes the vaccination process. It is saddening to lose a pet to a deadly and painful disease that could have been prevented.

If you are considering adopting an animal that is supposed to have been needled, ask the animal's current owner if the animal has also received booster shots! You could find out what kind of vet care an animal has received by asking where the animal was treated and then calling up her/his veterinarian to determine whether the animal was properly vaccinated. Remember, your new pet is worth the effort, and has the potential to be a companion for a long time.

SPAY / NEUTER

One of the most common reasons why animal control picks up dogs and cats is because the animals were out “looking for love”, or something like that.  Having your pet spayed or neutered allows them to be far more contented to stay at home and be happy members of their human family.  Leaving pets intact will tend to greatly increase the likelihood that they will be struck by a vehicle, contract a contagious disease, create bad feelings with your neighbors, and be parents of unwanted offspring.  The number one cause of suffering by underappreciated dogs and cats is because they resulted from an unintentional breeding.  So, HAVE YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED!  PLEASE, for their sake, for your sake, and for dog and cat kind.
